2007 TXRPC Annual Meeting Participant Biographies

  • Delia “Dee Dee” Freney-Bailey

Delia “Dee Dee” Freney-Bailey, OTR/L, ATS has been an Occupational Therapist since 1978 in the San Francisco Bay area, California. She became a provider and branch manager in 1996 specializing in seating evaluations and assistive technology. She presently works in at Kaiser Permanente, Early Intervention Infant Program, School based OT and Spina Bifida Clinics. Dee Dee is also a private consultant, develops clinical case studies featuring seating and mobility products and provides clinical and educational presentations. Dee Dee has been a team member and team leader for distributions with Wheels for Humanity to China/Tibet, North Vietnam, Ukraine, Trinidad, Costa Rica, Uganda and Eleanore's Project to Peru. She was awarded the Wheels for Humanity Volunteer of the Year 2005.

  • Rita Hostak -- Vice President of Government Relations, Sunrise Medical

Rita Hostak has been employed by Sunrise Medical since 1982.  She has twenty five years of experience in the home healthcare industry.  Ranging from sales and sales management to government relations.  She has fourteen years of experience involving the regulatory and legislative side of reimbursement. Rita is the current president of the National Coalition for Assistive and Rehab Technology (NCART) and serves on the Regulatory Committee at the American Association for Homecare and is the co-chair of the CMS Program Advisory and Oversight Committee regarding competitive bidding.

  • Sue Johnson -- Director of Education, Convaid, Inc.

Sue Johnson is the Director of Education for Convaid Inc., manufacturer of wheelchairs for children and adults. She works closely with the Convaid engineering staff and transportation research experts on crash testing of their wheelchairs. She has launched an educational program for clinicians, transportation providers and end-users throughout the United States; presenting over 50 educational seminars to date on Wheelchair Transportation Safety based upon “Ride Safe” information from the University of Michigan. Sue is a strong advocate for improving wheelchair transportation; speaking at several national conference, including American Occupational Therapy Association; RESNA, the Canadian Seating and Mobility Conference and Transporting Students with Disabilities.

  • Stephanie Tanguay -- Clinical Education Specialist, Motion Concepts

Stephanie Tanguay (OTR, ATP/S) is the Clinical Education Specialist for Motion Concepts. She has 13 years of clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist with 8 of those years as part of a Seating & Mobility Clinic. She also worked for almost 7 years as a CRTS in the evaluation and provision of mobility and seating systems. She has presented throughout North America including RESNA, CSMC and the ISS on numerous occasions.

  • Peggy Walker -- Billing & Reimbursement Advisor, US Rehab

Peggy is the Billing & Reimbursement Advisor for US Rehab a Division of VGM (Waterloo, Iowa). Peggy works out of her home office in Blythewood, SC assisting US Rehab, VGM, Nationwide Respiratory & OPGA members with pre-pay review of Rehab claims and other Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement issues. She worked with the Region C DMERC as lead nurse in Post Pay review and assisted with development of coverage criteria for wheelchairs, CPMs and other medical policies. She is currently a member of Jurisdiction C Council, the Education A team leader for Jurisdiction C, and a member of the RATC council for AAH. She is very active with state associations, state Medicaids, manufacturers, and private pay insurances in assisting them with training programs for high end Rehab equipment and other reimbursement issues. As an additional part of her position with US Rehab, she now offers Community Forums to educate referral sources about their responsibilities in assisting the providers in obtaining proper documentation required for specific areas of Medicare Policy.
